Minimum Qualifications:A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific or engineering field (e.g., geomorphology, river engineering, earth science)At least 6 years of relevant professional experienceProficiency in GIS and CAD softwareStrong understanding of fluvial forms, processes, and functions, including their relationship with local physiography and ecological habitatsExperience in river and stream channel hydraulics and stability analysisBackground in environmental data collection, identification, and assessmentsAbility to develop stream restoration and enhancement strategiesWillingness to travel to remote locations for fieldworkPreferred Qualifications:A Master’s degree specializing in fluvial geomorphology is an advantage

AECOM is seeking a dynamic and driven Senior Fluvial Geomorphologist to join our growing team in Canada. This newly created role is part of our commitment to expanding our fluvial geomorphology capabilities within environmental and engineering projects. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate eager to contribute to the advancement of AECOM's fluvial geomorphology practice across the nation.

The Senior Fluvial Geomorphologist will collaborate with our team of geomorphologists, hydraulic engineers, and ecologists to oversee a range of stream restoration initiatives, which include:

  • Restoration of natural processes and habitat conditions

  • Implementation of erosion control measures and enhancements for fish passage

  • Providing support for hazard identification

  • Facilitating improvements to infrastructure

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Apply scientific principles, theories, and technologies to devise solutions for specialized technical challenges

  • Collect and manage data, utilizing technical principles and theories effectively

  • Analyze and interpret data, ensuring compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations

  • Lead 'Natural Channel Design' and stream restoration projects, providing assessments and design recommendations

  • Conduct in-depth field investigations and assessments, including sediment transport and scour analysis

  • Analyze and interpret geomorphic and hydraulic data

  • Draft and review technical reports

  • Engage in cross-office collaboration and participate in meetings with clients and stakeholders
