Ready to Embrace New Challenges?We seek candidates who possess the following qualifications:Extensive experience with hydraulic and water quality modelling software, including Mike, ICM, SIMCAT, Flood Modeller, and/or TUFLOW. Solid understanding of Environment Agency requirements for flood model preparation related to flood risk assessments. Basic knowledge of physico-chemical water quality and pertinent regulatory standards for freshwater. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related field. Professional qualification with CIWEM or a similar organization is preferred or in progress. Practical knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Anaconda, or Ruby is a plus. You should be self-motivated, able to work independently when necessary, and demonstrate a strong commitment to your responsibilities.

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Flood Modeller to become a vital part of our expanding Water Business Line in London. This is your opportunity to contribute to high-profile projects throughout the UK and beyond while being part of one of the UK’s leading engineering hubs.

As a Senior Flood Modeller at AECOM, you will serve as a key technical resource, mentoring junior staff and driving our service offerings to local authorities, water companies, and both private and public sector clients.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and validate hydraulic models using software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, Mike 11, Mike 21, HEC-RAS, and ICM for Flood Alleviation Schemes, Flood Risk Assessments, and reservoir flood studies.
  • Create water quality models utilizing industry-standard software like MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT, and/or ICM.
  • Conceptualize and outline modelling strategies, assessing risks and opportunities.
  • Conduct and review hydrological assessments in accordance with the Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2, and WINFAP standards.
  • Lead and contribute to tenders for innovative projects and multimillion-pound framework contracts.
  • Mentor team members to enhance their professional growth.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients and collaborate with other technical disciplines.
  • Stay informed about relevant legislation and guidelines impacting our services.
  • Utilize AECOM’s project management systems to deliver exceptional outputs within the agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Work in close partnership with clients and multidisciplinary teams to execute a variety of flood risk management projects.
