About the job
ABOUT US:
At Skip, we are dedicated to enhancing lives through powered movement.
We believe that movement is essential for physical, mental, and social well-being. However, it remains out of reach for 2 billion people due to age, injury, or disability. Our mission is to create innovative products that restore mobility, allowing millions to experience the joy of movement. We envision a future where no one is left behind, and where grandparents can easily keep up with their grandchildren.
Founded in 2023 as a spin-off from Google X, Skip is a dynamic 20-person startup. Our team combines extensive cross-disciplinary expertise and strategic partnerships (e.g., with Arc’teryx) to pioneer the first commercially successful wearable robotic device, the MO/GO, and to develop a platform for future Movewear products that will transform lives worldwide.
THE ROLE:
We are looking for a passionate and versatile Senior Firmware Engineer to join our innovative team. You will tackle various challenges as we develop the next generation of wearable robots designed for everyday use.
As a key member of our team of exceptional engineers and product leaders, you will start in an individual contributor role while providing leadership for critical systems.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Overseeing embedded C/C++ development, including FreeRTOS management, interrupts, and JTAG/SWD debugging.
Enhancing data communication processes between peripherals and chips such as ESP32 and STM32, including Wi-Fi and BLE integration.
Implementing secure Over-The-Air (OTA) updates and bootloaders.
Managing our AWS IoT Core environment, including mTLS, MQTT, and IoT Jobs OTA.
Controlling a variety of actuators, including off-the-shelf BLDCs, custom PMSMs, and axial flux motors, along with firmware development for our motor control chip (currently C2000, but subject to change).
Guiding design and development decisions for future iterations.
