A Night in the Life as a Senior Equipment Engineer
In your role as a Senior Equipment Engineer on the night shift, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the seamless operation of Swift's laboratory facilities during off-hours. You will provide hands-on support for our deposition tools and process equipment, ensuring that the morning team arrives to a fully operational lab.
Your typical night will involve monitoring SPC dashboards and deposition parameters, promptly identifying and notifying relevant team members of any abnormalities. When equipment specifications are not met, you will decide whether to continue operations, pause, or shut down the machinery, taking the lead on troubleshooting issues such as vacuum instability, plasma fluctuations, or deposition uniformity challenges. You will also restart vacuum systems, review thin-film metrology results, adjust processes, and collaborate with controls engineers to analyze tool logs and PLC data. Throughout your shift, you will mentor and guide process technicians through real-time troubleshooting, helping them gain confidence under pressure.
Additionally, you will oversee maintenance of facility equipment, including compressors, gloveboxes, and chilled water systems, manage spare part tracking and consumable forecasts, and recommend operational enhancements. As one of the key night shift team members, you will play a vital role in shaping Swift's continuous operations.
