Join AECOM's Burnaby office as a Senior Environmental Specialist, where your expertise will contribute to our Ecology, Planning, and Permitting team. This full-time role is suited for a seasoned professional with a deep knowledge of British Columbia’s environmental regulations, along with proven leadership in large infrastructure permitting. You will guide multi-disciplinary teams, mentor staff, and facilitate major project approvals across British Columbia and Western Canada.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading a team of professionals from the Burnaby office and across Canada, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and sustained growth.
- Providing advanced technical expertise in aquatic biology, impact assessments, and permitting processes, including the preparation and review of environmental assessment applications and regulatory submissions.
- Exhibiting comprehensive knowledge of B. C. Environmental Assessment processes, particularly in relation to major infrastructure, energy, and transportation projects.
- Engaging with clients, regulatory bodies, and Indigenous communities to support environmental planning initiatives.
- Overseeing the creation of work scopes, technical deliverables, and environmental management plans.
- Leading aquatic studies and leveraging field experience in fish and habitat assessments.
- Preparing strategic proposals and budgets, spearheading business development efforts, and supporting the growth of our Environment business line.
- Collaborating with regulators, clients, Indigenous communities, and other AECOM technical leads.
- Proactively identifying project challenges and developing practical solutions.
- Ensuring safety and quality integration across projects, aligned with AECOM’s values and performance standards.
- Mentoring junior and intermediate team members in technical and regulatory aspects.
