About the job
About Obvio AI
Every year, over 7,500 pedestrians lose their lives due to vehicular accidents in the U. S., a staggering increase of 70% in the last decade. Despite the heightened awareness surrounding road safety, cities are still grappling with the challenge of mitigating hazardous driving behaviors. Current 'Vision Zero' initiatives are not achieving the desired outcomes.
Obvio AI is on a mission to transform this narrative.
We introduce solar-powered, AI-driven cameras designed to enforce traffic regulations in areas where pedestrians face the highest risk. By automating enforcement methods that surpass traditional systems, we have already made significant strides in reducing reckless driving, enhancing safety for pedestrians, motorists, and law enforcement personnel alike.
Founded by the innovators behind Motive’s AI dashcam, Obvio is supported by prominent investors such as Bain Capital Ventures and Khosla Ventures. With a recent $22M Series A funding round and collaborations with some of the nation's most progressive cities, we are poised to create a safer urban landscape globally.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Embedded Engineer to spearhead the design and optimization of software that fuels our AI-enhanced traffic monitoring cameras. These systems function in challenging outdoor settings, requiring real-time video processing while adhering to strict power and performance limitations. You will lead architectural decisions, mentor fellow engineers, and collaborate with hardware, AI, and backend teams to develop dependable, efficient embedded systems that accurately identify violations and relay essential data seamlessly.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the embedded software architecture for AI camera systems, creating scalable solutions for sensor integration, image processing, and real-time inference pipelines.
- Optimize performance of C++ code for resource-constrained environments, setting standards for the balance of detection accuracy, power consumption, and processing speed.
- Design and implement robust embedded systems that operate reliably across varying weather conditions and deployment scenarios at scale.
- Oversee integration strategies with camera sensors, communication modules, and power management systems utilizing standard embedded protocols.
- Work closely with AI teams to devise and enhance computer vision model deployment on edge hardware.
- Establish testing frameworks and debugging tools for the validation of embedded systems.
