Job Description
AECOM is looking for a proactive and skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Tucson, Arizona office. This role will focus on supporting mining projects during the planning and design phases.
We welcome candidates with industrial electrical engineering experience, even if they come from outside the mining sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a technical advisor for project teams.
- Provide specialized technical input for studies and designs in your area of expertise.
- Create procedures that ensure high-quality and cost-effective work.
- Participate in the interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
- Mentor junior engineers and offer guidance.
- Develop construction cost estimates and project effort estimates.
- Conduct detailed engineering assignments, including calculations and designs.
- Propose solutions to encountered problems using innovative approaches.
- Identify discrepancies in project outcomes and suggest corrective measures.
- Lead electrical engineering efforts on mid- to large-scale projects.
- Ensure work is completed on schedule and within budget with minimal supervision.
- Perform all tasks necessary to finalize primary design elements.
- Conduct quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings.
- Prepare comprehensive calculation packages for electrical equipment sizing.
- Draft reports in Microsoft Word to present technical findings, methodologies, and conclusions.
- Engage in preliminary project design tasks, including conceptual studies and equipment selection.
- Develop design documents with specifications for electrical equipment and materials.
- Carry out detailed technical evaluations of bids for electrical systems.
- Review vendor shop drawings to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
- Provide technical expertise throughout the design process.
- Ensure all services meet project requirements efficiently and on time.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and clients.
- Provide leadership in electrical engineering and design for multidisciplinary mining projects.
