As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Dedrone, you will have complete design ownership of next-generation cUAS technology from concept to production, with your work being highly visible to senior leadership. Collaboration with passionate leaders and cross-functional teams—including product managers, mechanical engineers, industrial designers, and manufacturing specialists—is essential to achieving our team's goals and ensuring the safety of the public for years to come.
This position focuses on electrical system architecture, PCB design, firmware integration, RF and power systems, and system-level verification. The ideal candidate will possess substantial hands-on experience in schematic capture, PCB layout, mixed-signal design, embedded firmware, and rugged/regulated environment design.
Location: Onsite at our Sterling, VA office.
What You'll Do:
- Lead the development of electrical systems and subsystems from conception to production, ensuring compliance with safety, EMC, and reliability standards.
- Define electrical architectures for sensors, radios, power distribution, and control electronics for cUAS platforms.
- Design and review schematics, perform PCB layout for mixed-signal and RF boards, collaborating with mechanical teams to address packaging and thermal constraints.
- Develop, validate, and optimize power systems (battery management, DC/DC converters, power sequencing) to ensure robust operation under shock, vibration, and extreme temperatures.
- Implement and integrate embedded firmware for real-time control, sensor fusion, communication protocols, and boot/load mechanisms.
- Conduct hardware bring-up, debugging, and system integration, utilizing lab instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers) to assess performance.
