We are seeking a Senior Developer Relations Engineer to serve as the crucial link to our strategic vision. This role focuses on technical education, advocacy, and capturing valuable insights to enhance public trust, drive adoption, and ensure Buildkite’s messaging remains grounded in reality.
Our approach to Developer Relations emphasizes an execution framework—education leading to proof, adoption, and advocacy—conducted with credibility and precision. You will enable developers to achieve value quickly, create experiences that foster loyalty to Buildkite, and provide honest feedback on challenges, gaps, and future product directions.

What You’ll Do
Drive a Developer-Centric Demand Engine
- Lead campaign execution across key areas, from ideation to asset planning, launching, and iterative improvements.
- Develop initiatives that cater to both developers and decision-makers, ensuring credibility, clarity, and conversion.
- Establish a consistent rhythm that integrates our Labs (Brand Systems, Developer Voice, Go-To-Market Strategies).
Be the Trusted Technical Advocate for Developers
- Engage in key forums with authentic technical insights and solutions.
- Educate on CI concepts and Buildkite workflows in formats that resonate with engineers.
- Build trust by engaging with real-world challenges.
Accelerate Adoption through Education and Practical Pathways
- Design learning pathways that minimize time to first value, including onboarding guides and implementation walkthroughs.
- Collaborate with Product and Support teams to transform recurring confusion into improved documentation, defaults, and user experiences.
- Assist teams in safely migrating and modernizing their processes by clarifying CI best practices.
- Work alongside customers—large enterprises, startups, and open-source contributors—to share valuable technical experiences and narratives.
Transform Proof into Public Artifacts
- Collaborate with Content Engineering and Writing teams to convert technical realities into shareable assets.
- Create and publish developer-grade materials that address real questions and withstand scrutiny.
- Maintain high standards for content quality and relevance.
