AECOM is on the lookout for a seasoned Senior Data Engineer to spearhead the design, implementation, and enhancement of data platforms and solutions across a variety of projects.

In this pivotal role, you will oversee significant segments of the data solution lifecycle, mentor junior engineers, and ensure the creation of robust, scalable, secure, and value-oriented data architecture. You will collaborate closely with Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and interdisciplinary digital teams, supporting analytics initiatives and occasionally engaging in data science tasks such as feature engineering, exploratory analysis, or model operationalization.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Solution Delivery

  • Lead concepts through our solution development lifecycle with a focus on optimization and scalability.
  • Manage comprehensive data processes such as ingestion, transformation, modeling, and integration across various external-facing projects.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Conduct technical workshops and gather requirements from stakeholders across the organization and external clients.
  • Partner with cross-functional data teams to convert client strategic and business needs into technical specifications.
  • Work alongside Data Analysts and Data Scientists to support analytical projects, including feature engineering and big data analysis.
  • Coordinate with project managers, architects, and technical teams to ensure the smooth integration of data solutions within broader digital ecosystems.

Quality, Governance & Operational Excellence

  • Champion and implement best practices in data engineering, including code quality, testing, CI/CD, and documentation standards.
  • Lead the establishment of data governance controls, covering metadata management, access controls, data lineage, PII protection, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Create monitoring and alerting strategies for data solutions, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability.
  • Diagnose complex issues across infrastructure, data solutions, and custom analytical products.

Innovation, Prototyping & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive prototyping and proof-of-concept endeavors to assess emerging technologies and their potential within AECOM’s data ecosystem.
  • Assist in operationalizing and deploying predictive models and analytics solutions.
  • Continuously explore and evaluate new tools and methodologies to enhance data engineering practices.
