Key Responsibilities:Design and optimize precision pointing and tracking control loops. Implement closed-loop tracking systems from sensor inputs to actuator commands at high frequencies. Develop state estimation techniques using IMU, encoder, and vision-based feedback (including Kalman and complementary filters). Model and identify system dynamics of gimbals, mounts, and actuators. Tune actuators, schedule gains, and compensate for nonlinearities such as backlash and friction. Characterize resonances and implement notch filtering and structural compensation. Develop simulation infrastructure for control development. Establish hardware-in-the-loop testing for control validation. Conduct field characterizations against actual targets during range tests. Create comprehensive controls documentation.

Role overview

The Senior Controls Engineer leads the design and optimization of precision motion control systems for laser-based drone targeting. This position requires a strong background in robotics control engineering, with a focus on hands-on development and rapid prototyping. The work centers on translating advanced control models into real-world hardware and refining system performance through iterative testing.
