In the capacity of a Senior Cloud Networking Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and maintenance of Xero's essential cloud infrastructure frameworks. Your expertise will empower our development teams to deliver secure software solutions at scale. You'll focus on architecting high-performance network solutions primarily on AWS, with occasional work on Azure and GCP, ensuring our global connectivity is both rapid and reliable.
By leveraging automated infrastructure-as-code practices and managing sophisticated routing and DNS services, you will significantly alleviate the cognitive load on our product teams. As a technical mentor, you will interface with security teams to balance rapid delivery with stringent safety standards.

Join the PaaS Networks team, a dynamic cross-functional agile group of five committed to developing platform products that empower our developers. While the team is primarily based in Melbourne, you will engage with global stakeholders to create seamless self-service infrastructure solutions.
Current Projects
Modernizing our connectivity by transitioning from Transit Gateway to Cloud WAN for improved routing efficiency.
Implementing a comprehensive log aggregation and observability toolset utilizing New Relic and CloudWatch to enhance incident response times.
Scaling our global DNS architecture while refining self-service capabilities to increase developer autonomy.
Automating our multi-cloud environments using Terraform, Python, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure consistency and repeatability in deployments.
Work Environment
This position is based in Melbourne or Sydney, with the core team located in Melbourne. Xero promotes a hybrid working model, blending home-based focus and office collaboration, complemented by modern ergonomic workstations and a culture that prioritizes flexibility.
Desired Qualifications
Extensive technical expertise in AWS networking, particularly with VPCs, Transit Gateways, and various connectivity patterns.
A solid background in infrastructure-as-code is crucial, as you will develop Terraform modules for automating complex environments.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Shell to create tools that enhance network operations.
