MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field plus 8 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:10 years of relevant experience in transportation engineering. Professional Engineer (PE) license in one or more western US states or ability to obtain. Proven experience in business development and client relationship management. Expertise in designing transit and transportation infrastructures. Proficiency in design software such as MicroStation, GEOPAK, and/or OpenRoads. Strong leadership and communication skills essential for client interactions. Ability to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams. Expertise in Quality Control and Quality Assurance for design and project management. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

AECOM is actively looking for a Senior Project Manager - Transit/Rail to join our dynamic team in the Denver, Salt Lake, or Phoenix office. This pivotal role will report directly to the Transit/Rail Engineering Department of the US West Region.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The successful candidate will oversee business development, manage transit studies, and lead both preliminary and final designs for various transit infrastructure projects including Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), Streetcars, Commuter Rail, Heavy Rail, and High-Speed Rail across the western United States. Our clients range from the Colorado Department of Transportation, City and County of Denver, DART, LA Metro, BART, Caltrans, San Diego MTS, UTA, RTD, and more. The ideal candidate will serve as an AECOM team lead, project manager, and/or technical task leader on select projects, ensuring collaboration within the AECOM US West Region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute specific and moderate segments of broader engineering assignments.
  • Collect and correlate foundational engineering data following established procedures.
  • Conduct detailed or routine engineering tasks involving calculations and basic tests.
  • Develop innovative approaches to address new challenges encountered in projects.
  • Identify inconsistencies in results and propose solutions.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers.
  • Execute work in alignment with established budgets and timelines with minimal supervision.
  • Independently complete essential design components for engineering projects.
  • Demonstrate professional growth and experience in an engineering role.
