Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams. Experience in data center design and construction is a plus.

Role Overview

The Senior Civil Engineer is a key player within Fluidstack's Design and Engineering team. You will lead the civil engineering efforts for multi-site developments, overseeing projects from initial site assessments to design, permitting, and construction.

In this owner/developer role, you will manage external civil consultants, work alongside geotechnical engineers, liaise with local authorities, and ensure technical consistency across general contractors and project teams. You will be recognized as the subject matter expert in civil grading, drainage, utilities, floodplain management, and earthwork for some of the largest data center campuses under development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct civil due diligence for greenfield and conversion sites, focusing on topography, drainage, utilities, soils, floodplain, and environmental constraints.
  • Analyze traffic impact studies and offsite infrastructure requirements, identifying civil cost and schedule risks during site selection.
  • Direct geotechnical investigations, develop RFP scopes, review boring programs, interpret findings, and assign design tasks accordingly.
  • Evaluate site compatibility for extensive grading, infrastructure, and stormwater systems.
  • Identify significant risks and estimate civil cost implications during site evaluations.

Design & Standards

  • Establish and uphold civil design bases, master specifications, and standardized drawings for Fluidstack's portfolio.
  • Oversee external civil consultants from schematic design through to Issued for Construction (IFC), ensuring adherence to standards and quality control of deliverables.
  • Formulate grading strategies and maintain earthwork balance for optimal site development.
