What You’ll Do
- Lead and execute comprehensive abuse testing for cells, modules, and battery packs, focusing on Thermal Runaway, Short Circuit, Over-Temperature, Overcharge, and Overdischarge scenarios.
- Conduct thorough data analysis and compile detailed reports.
- Design and develop sub-scale and full-scale test rigs for Safety/Abuse tests, including PCBA/hardware and software integration.
- Create and deploy custom thermal abuse test equipment and controllers.
- Develop bespoke test equipment and automation software to facilitate cross-functional battery R&D testing.
- Utilize NX CAD software for the mechanical design of test rigs.
- Enhance test development using LabVIEW, Python, and other relevant tools.
- Assist in the assembly of small-scale buck and prototype builds.
- Provide support for troubleshooting and preventative maintenance of battery testing equipment and setups.
- Contribute to failure review processes.
- Work alongside the battery engineering team on cell, buck, and pack teardown procedures.
- Innovate and implement new test procedures, executing them effectively.
- Generate reports for submission to the FAA.
