Role Overview:

As a Senior Autonomy Engineer specializing in control systems, you will play a crucial role in advancing the algorithms that govern the behavior of our autonomous drones. Your expertise will lead to the creation of stable and smooth flight dynamics and gimbal motion, enabling pilots to execute their missions seamlessly across various applications, including inspections, mapping, and security operations. You will be integral to developing and implementing core motion planning software, focusing on low-level stabilization and control while contributing to high-level task-specific frameworks.

Your Impact:

  • Design, tune, and assess low-level controllers and trajectory optimization techniques.

  • Collaborate across software systems to define crucial data and interfaces that ensure effective control.

  • Partner with the UX team to explore and establish planning and UI boundaries for innovative interaction paradigms.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in either industry or research environments developing software that interacts with real hardware, such as robotic arms, self-driving vehicles, or aerial robots.

  • Proficiency in modern and classical control design methodologies.

  • Expertise in C++ programming.

  • Familiarity with dynamic programming techniques.

  • Experience in non-linear optimization.

  • Strong foundation in software engineering, emphasizing clean and well-architected code.

Compensation:

At Skydio, we offer competitive compensation packages for full-time employees, including a base salary, stock options, and comprehensive benefits. Compensation will vary based on experience and expertise. The annual salary range for this position is between $160,000 and $250,000. We also provide relocation assistance for eligible candidates.
