Position Overview

The Senior Automation and Controls Engineer will play a pivotal role in providing plant support, troubleshooting expertise, and spearheading improvement projects within a dynamic, high-volume manufacturing facility in Richmond, Indiana. This position is vital for achieving and surpassing operational, environmental, and safety objectives. The ideal candidate will oversee a diverse array of industrial electrical and control system projects from start to finish, including scope definition, engineering calculations, design, cost estimation, and thorough documentation. Additionally, this role encompasses mentoring junior engineers and electricians while delivering essential training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and evaluate power, electrical, and control systems engineering throughout all project phases.
  • Draft and assess technical electrical specifications for equipment, processes, and projects.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify operational challenges within a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Engage in/lead Root Cause Corrective Actions to avert reoccurrence of issues.
  • Offer on-call support for electrical and controls challenges to plant operations.
  • Assist in reviewing and implementing corporate engineering specifications and standards.
  • Collaborate with various departments to manage and prioritize issues effectively.
  • Support manufacturing operations and implement facility electrical safety initiatives.
  • Coordinate, assess, and manage external engineering resources and consultants.
  • Maintain clear communication with management and project stakeholders regarding project status, challenges, and changes.
