About the job
Relay is revolutionizing the logistics landscape for the digital age. With a landmark logistics Series A funding of $35 million from leading deep-tech investors Plural, whose portfolio includes advancements in fusion energy and space exploration, Relay is outpacing 99.98% of venture-backed startups in terms of growth. We are on a mission to build an exceptionally talented team, the most skilled in the logistics sector.
Our Mission is to eliminate friction in commerce. High delivery costs currently impose an invisible tax on e-commerce, shaping what can be marketed online and restricting participation. We envision a future where goods move freely among individuals, creating a seamless and inclusive online shopping experience.
THE TEAM
• A close-knit group of approximately 110 individuals, with over 50% specializing in engineering, product development, and data analysis.
• More than 45 advanced degrees in disciplines such as computer science, mathematics, and operations research.
• We analyze and predict thousands of data points for every parcel we manage.
• A culture that thrives on first principles thinking, fast feedback cycles, and continuous experimentation.
About the Role
As we expand our network of over 600 pitstop partners across the UK, each partner requires careful onboarding, consistent performance monitoring, coordination with our Middle Mile operations, and support during challenges. Currently, much of this knowledge is held informally, relying on manual processes and ad-hoc solutions that do not scale.
This position aims to transform these processes. You will oversee the systems aspect of our Pitstop operations: determining optimal procedures, designing scalable infrastructures, and collaborating with product and engineering teams to implement solutions. Your role will not merely involve problem analysis but also executing lasting fixes that can handle tenfold growth.
We seek a candidate skilled in systems thinking, capable of clear communication, and proficient in driving projects to completion. Experience in a dynamic operations or strategy role is essential, as is the ability to engage effectively with engineers.
