About the Role
We are on the lookout for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain the APIs that drive Employee Navigator’s benefits enrollment platform. You will collaborate closely with business units, product managers, and QA teams to deliver high-quality APIs for both internal and external use. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in developing and managing high-traffic, customer-facing APIs, and will leverage their expertise to enhance our API offerings.
Our technology stack includes C# on . NET 8 with WebAPI, MVC, and Vue.js for frontend development. Our projects range from simple data capture forms to complex Roslyn-based C# class-to-REST API generators and custom patterns for our enrollment engine. We prioritize planning and peer discussions to ensure the best code quality before implementation. Depending on the task at hand, we utilize Micro-ORM, dynamic SQL, or stored procedures, favoring generics and functional programming for readability.
We follow a Kanban methodology, allowing the pace of work to be determined by task definition rather than arbitrary deadlines. We seek engineers who can make informed decisions and devise creative solutions. Close collaboration with product owners and executives ensures features are well understood and relevant problems are addressed.
Please note: This position requires onsite work at either our Bethesda, MD or Salt Lake City, UT office on a hybrid schedule.
