Waymo is at the forefront of autonomous driving technology, striving to be the world's most trusted driver. Originating from the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, we have dedicated ourselves to developing the Waymo Driver—The World’s Most Experienced Driver™—which enhances mobility access and aims to save thousands of lives lost in traffic accidents. The Waymo Driver powers our fully autonomous ride-hail service and can be utilized across various vehicle platforms and applications. With over ten million rider-only trips completed, our technology has autonomously navigated more than 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions of miles in simulation across 15+ U. S. states.
Our commercial service currently operates in five cities, and as we expand our infrastructure, we are committed to evolving Waymo into a high-scale, world-class service.
We are assembling a team of engineers focused on enhancing our in-car experience. This includes projects related to the Pick Up and Drop Off (PUDO) experience and infotainment during passenger trips, encompassing music, games, and maps. Our team is responsible for the user interfaces that allow customers to hail and manage our autonomous vehicles, tackling complex user experiences, phone-to-vehicle communications, and innovative human-computer interaction challenges in the AV domain.
