Qualifications: Proven experience in analytics engineering or a related field, with a focus on regulatory compliance. Strong proficiency in data modeling, ETL processes, and data pipeline construction. Experience with dbt and familiarity with cloud data warehousing solutions such as Snowflake. Excellent analytical skills and a detail-oriented approach to problem-solving. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with regulatory reporting standards across European jurisdictions is a plus.

SumUp is looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to join the Risk Analytics Team in Berlin. This team sits within the Risk & Compliance Tribe and focuses on regulatory reporting, fraud detection, chargeback management, and compliance analytics across European jurisdictions.

The Risk Analytics Team works at the intersection of data, regulation, and business operations. Team members collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and backend engineers to deliver accurate and scalable data solutions that support SumUp’s regulatory and business needs.

In this role, the Senior Analytics Engineer will help shape the technical direction of the team. The position involves building and maintaining data frameworks that support regulatory compliance, automating data pipelines, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality data products for decision-making within the Risk & Compliance Tribe.

What you will do

  • Design and maintain complex data models to track merchant activities and support timely, accurate regulatory reporting.
  • Enhance and manage data pipelines for regulatory report submissions across European entities, focusing on compliance, reliability, and reducing manual work.
  • Develop and implement data validation strategies required by regulators to ensure high-quality reporting.
  • Apply dbt best practices, maintain the dbt project, and enforce coding guidelines and style validations.
  • Work closely with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and backend engineers to integrate their work into robust data pipelines.
  • Monitor and manage computing costs, identifying ways to improve cost-efficiency in the domain.
  • Extract pipeline metrics and build dashboards for clear team-wide monitoring.
  • Support a strong data infrastructure using tools such as Git, Argo Workflows, dbt, and Snowflake, enabling self-service analytics for Data Analysts and stakeholders.
