About the job

Join the Future of Freight Logistics

At Slip Robotics, we are pioneering the way freight logistics operates, utilizing advanced autonomous robotic systems designed for rapid loading and unloading of trailers. Our innovative robots are engineered to work seamlessly in high-pressure environments alongside personnel and heavy cargo, proving their reliability and efficiency in real-world applications. As a tight-knit team based in Atlanta, we are proud to build products that are already making a significant impact in the field.

Your Impact

As a Robotics Navigation and Control Engineer, you will take the lead in developing motion planning, path planning, and control systems for our autonomous mobile robots. These robots navigate complex and constrained spaces, such as trailers, loading docks, and active warehouse floors, managing heavy loads with exceptional precision. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that our robots move safely, accurately, and dependably.

We seek a candidate with proven experience in deploying navigation and control software on actual robotic systems at customer sites. You should possess hands-on expertise in tuning controllers on physical hardware, addressing challenges such as wheel slip, load dynamics, and the vital differences between simulation and real-world applications. While academic contributions are valuable, practical experience in production settings is paramount.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize pathway planning and trajectory generation for autonomous mobile robots in logistics environments.
  • Develop and fine-tune motion controllers (PID, MPC, or similar) for heavy-load platforms considering real-world dynamics.
  • Implement dependable obstacle avoidance and safety measures to ensure safe interactions around personnel and infrastructure.
  • Manage the localization stack, collaborating with perception engineers to fuse sensor-based position estimates into the control loop.
  • Create simulation models and validate them against real robot behavior to expedite development cycles.
  • Analyze and enhance robot performance using field data, telemetry, and logs from deployed robots.
  • Collaborate with perception, hardware, and cloud teams to deliver cohesive autonomy features.
  • Contribute to the CI/CD pipeline for testing and deploying control software to our robot fleet.

About Slip Robotics

Slip Robotics is at the forefront of revolutionizing freight logistics through cutting-edge autonomous robotic systems. Our mission is to enhance the speed, safety, and reliability of loading and unloading processes. With our robots actively deployed in challenging environments, we are committed to innovation and excellence in the logistics sector.
