Arxlight AI is seeking a Robotics Hardware Engineer to join our team in Oakland. This role focuses on designing, developing, testing, and improving complex robotic systems and components. The position calls for a multidisciplinary background spanning mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science. Projects move from concept to execution, often in collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and cost-effective solutions.
What You Will Do
- Quickly evaluate engineering concepts across electrical, mechanical, software, and manufacturing domains.
- Build prototypes, investigate failures, and help transition successful designs into production.
- Lead the design, implementation, and testing of advanced electro-mechanical systems.
- Take ownership of major systems with significant autonomy.
- Organize and run design reviews, perform technical analyses, coordinate with vendors, and create as well as carry out hardware testing plans.
- Support key hardware demonstrations for customers when needed.
- Travel to testing sites as required.
- Apply first principles of physics to guide engineering decisions.
- Adapt to a variety of roles and responsibilities as projects demand.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with technical projects, either academic or professional.
- Demonstrated skill in designing complex electro-mechanical systems (such as robots, UAVs, wearables, or high-power electric propulsion systems).
- Ability to interpret and work with block diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional degrees or minors in related engineering fields.
- Familiarity with mechanical CAD tools (such as Solidworks, NX, or Fusion 360).
- Experience using electrical CAD software (for example, Altium).
