Arxlight AI is hiring a Robotics Hardware Engineer in Oakland. This position centers on designing, developing, testing, and refining advanced robotic systems and components. Projects span from initial concept through execution, drawing on knowledge from mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is a regular part of the work, aiming to deliver reliable and cost-effective robotics solutions.
What you will do
- Evaluate engineering concepts across electrical, mechanical, software, and manufacturing areas.
- Build prototypes, investigate failures, and help move successful designs into production.
- Lead the design, implementation, and testing of electro-mechanical systems.
- Take ownership of major systems and work with significant autonomy.
- Organize and run design reviews, perform technical analyses, coordinate with vendors, and develop as well as execute hardware testing plans.
- Support hardware demonstrations for customers as needed.
- Travel to testing sites when required.
- Apply first principles of physics to guide engineering decisions.
- Adapt to a range of roles and responsibilities as project needs shift.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with technical projects, whether academic or professional.
- Demonstrated ability to design complex electro-mechanical systems (such as robots, UAVs, wearables, or high-power electric propulsion systems).
- Ability to interpret and work with block diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
- Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals.
Preferred qualifications
- Additional degrees or minors in related engineering fields.
- Familiarity with mechanical CAD tools (for example, Solidworks, NX, or Fusion 360).
- Experience with electrical CAD software (such as Altium).
