Perception Engineer Role
In the role of Perception Engineer at Tutor Intelligence, you will spearhead the design, development, and deployment of perception systems that utilize RGB, depth, LiDAR, and other sensing technologies. Your work will address critical challenges in SLAM, segmentation, tracking, and grasp planning, transforming real-world sensor inputs into dependable, production-ready autonomous systems.

Your Responsibilities
  • Design and implement perception modules for real-world robotic applications.
  • Manage projects from inception and prototyping through to production deployment.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Product, and Leadership teams to define and deliver effective solutions.
  • Enhance system reliability, scalability, and observability within production environments.
  • Troubleshoot complex perception and systems-level challenges across both hardware and software platforms.
  • Contribute to shaping technical direction, best practices, and workflows as Tutor scales.

Who You Are
  • 3+ years of experience in perception, robotics, or a closely related engineering field.
  • Strong foundation in computer vision and robotics.
  • Proficient in writing production-quality code in languages such as C++ and Python and handling real sensor data.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, resource-constrained environments.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
  • A strong sense of ownership and a drive to produce impactful work.
  • A genuine interest in robotics, AI, and addressing complex real-world challenges.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SLAM, multi-sensor fusion, or manipulation/grasp planning.
  • Hands-on experience with robots in production or field applications.
  • Previous startup experience, particularly in early or growth-stage companies.
  • Familiarity with 24/7 systems, operational tooling, or customer-facing deployments.
  • Interest in technical leadership, mentorship, or project ownership.
