Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field. A solid research background in SLAM, state estimation, and/or sensor calibration, with publications in top-tier conferences (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICRA, IROS, RSS). Experience with at least one of the following: machine learning applications in mapping, handling large-scale mapping datasets, online calibration techniques for autonomous systems, or a strong foundation in computer vision, particularly in sensor calibration/SLAM. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Proficiency in C++/Python, with onboard programming experience; understanding of real-time systems is a plus. Preferred prior experience in autonomous driving.

Join Motional as a passionate Research Software Intern focused on cutting-edge research and development in the fields of Localization, Mapping, and Calibration. This internship offers a unique chance to contribute to the evolution of autonomous vehicle technology while collaborating with industry leaders in innovation.

The internship will be held in our Singapore office with a commitment to a full-time position for a minimum of 5 months. We provide flexible working hours and the option for remote work; however, candidates must reside in Singapore during this period.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage in advanced research and development of state-of-the-art solutions for state estimation challenges, emphasizing scalability in urban environments. Areas of focus include SLAM methodologies for city-scale mapping and outdoor sensor calibration technologies.
  • Utilize large-scale internal datasets to validate your research outcomes.
  • Collaborate with various teams to integrate your research findings into autonomous vehicle systems.
  • Publish your research findings through academic papers and patents.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • A solid research background in SLAM, state estimation, and/or sensor calibration, evidenced by publications at prestigious conferences (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICRA, IROS, RSS).
  • Experience with at least one of the following: applying machine learning to mapping or geospatial challenges, handling large-scale mapping datasets, employing online calibration techniques for autonomous driving or robotics, or demonstrating a robust understanding of computer vision, particularly in sensor calibration/SLAM.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficient in C++/Python, with experience in onboard programming; knowledge of real-time systems is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in autonomous driving is preferred.
