THE JOB

As a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant at VEG, you won’t just support your team—you’ll be at the forefront of emergency care from day one. Your role will be pivotal in triaging patients, providing comfort to pet parents, and gaining invaluable hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment. This is the launchpad for your career, whether you aspire to become a credentialed technician or explore other avenues within veterinary medicine.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Provide a warm welcome and steady support to incoming patients while assisting in triaging their needs.
  • Contribute to various treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, and oxygen support.
  • Collaborate with our skilled veterinary technicians and veterinarians to set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases.
  • Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.
  • Participate in all aspects of patient care, from outpatient to inpatient settings.
  • Engage in patient rounds to ensure continuity of care.
  • Learn CPR techniques and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer (training provided).
  • Advance to more complex responsibilities as your skills grow.
