The Position

As a Relief Emergency Veterinary Assistant at VEG, you won’t just be assisting; you’ll be part of a dynamic team that is at the forefront of veterinary emergency care. From your very first day, you will support your team, comfort pet parents, and gain hands-on experience in a variety of emergency situations. Your journey begins here, where you can explore your passion for veterinary medicine, whether it leads you to become a credentialed technician or into other exciting areas of the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and support incoming patients and their families, ensuring a compassionate triage experience.
  • Assist in nursing care, treatments, and diagnostics, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, and oxygen support.
  • Collaborate with credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians during anesthesia and sedation procedures.
  • Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration effectively.
  • Provide care across all aspects of the hospital, from outpatient services to inpatient treatment areas.
  • Participate in patient rounds to ensure continuity of care throughout the treatment process.
  • Receive CPR training and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer (training provided).
  • Expand your skills and take on advanced responsibilities as you grow in your role.
