Required Qualifications:Essential:- A minimum of 5 years of experience in producing mechanical hardware, with robotics experience being a significant advantage.- Proficient in CAD design, with a preference for Onshape. Skills:- Ability to operate 3-axis CNC machines, lathes, FDM/SLA printers, and laser cutters seamlessly.- Strong measuring skills using calipers, micrometers, and force gauges.- Basic understanding of electronics for system-level testing.- A pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset with a focus on building functional prototypes. Preferred Qualifications:- Experience in building or refining robotic hands or end-effectors.- Familiarity with vacuum casting, sheet metal work, and custom fixture creation.- Basic data acquisition and programming skills in Python or MATLAB for test automation.

At 1X, we are pioneering the creation of the world's most advanced humanoid hands, all developed in-house. Our team is dedicated to prototyping every day, pushing boundaries, and achieving tangible progress continuously.


The Role: As an integral member of the Hands team, you will transform mechanical designs into functional hardware swiftly. You will be the go-to expert for rapid prototyping, whether it involves a new finger, joint, or testing rig.

Your Responsibilities:
- Produce prototypes in a matter of hours: milling, turning, printing, cutting, assembling, and soldering.
- Create quick-turn CAD models using Onshape or SolidWorks for parts that are immediately integrated into robotics.
- Assemble functional components: tendons, sensors, skins, gears, and more as needed.
- Conduct various tests, including endurance, cycling, and drop tests.
- Collaborate with the design team to iterate mechanical designs for real-world performance.
- Modify testing rigs to efficiently measure force, speed, and precision.
- Maintain your workspace, ensuring tools and materials are readily available.
- Document processes adequately to enhance future iterations.
