As a key member of our team, the Project Planner will play a crucial role in developing, maintaining, and overseeing project schedules for rail infrastructure initiatives. This position is vital in ensuring that project timelines are feasible, aligned with delivery requirements, and provide transparent visibility into progress, risks, and potential opportunities.

The Planner will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and delivery teams to facilitate effective planning, reporting, and project control throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Development:

  • Craft comprehensive project programmes from initial concept through to final delivery.

  • Create baseline schedules utilizing planning software such as Primavera P6.

  • Develop logic-linked programmes that include significant rail project milestones.

  • Ensure that programmes meet contract stipulations and align with the project delivery strategy.

Project Monitoring & Control:

  • Track project progress against the established baseline programme.

  • Regularly update schedules to reflect actual progress and projected completion dates.

  • Identify delays, risks, and impacts on the critical path.

  • Suggest mitigation strategies and recovery plans as necessary.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work hand-in-hand with Project Managers, Engineers, and Commercial Teams to ensure that programmes accurately reflect project scope and delivery constraints.

  • Assist in coordinating design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.

  • Engage in planning meetings and project reviews.

Reporting:

  • Generate regular planning reports that include:

    • Critical path analysis

    • Progress updates

    • Programme narratives

    • Delay analysis

  • Deliver clear visual reports to project teams and senior stakeholders.

Rail Environment Compliance:

  • Ensure that programmes adhere to rail industry requirements, including:

    • Possessions

    • Access planning

    • Safety protocols

    • Integration with ongoing railway operations.

Key Deliverables:

  • Integrated project programmes

  • Baseline schedules

  • Progress updates and programme revisions

  • Planning reports and programme narratives

  • Critical path analysis

  • Delay impact assessments
