Role overview

The Project Engineer in the Products division acts as a central point of contact among engineering, program management, manufacturing, and testing teams. This position is responsible for keeping projects on schedule and within budget, while ensuring technical requirements are satisfied at each stage. The role is fully onsite in the San Diego engineering department and reports to the VP of Product Design.

What you will do

  • Serve as the technical lead for assigned programs or projects, acting as the main liaison among the customer’s technical lead, program management, design engineering, systems engineering, manufacturing, and testing teams.
  • Ensure programs and projects achieve technical specifications, meet schedule milestones, and stay within budget targets.
  • Oversee subsystem integration within the broader system architecture.
  • Coordinate engineering changes to align with program requirements and timelines.
  • Support and enforce design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and gate reviews to confirm technical maturity.
  • Develop program execution plans, proposals, and engineering estimates, identifying required technical and business resources.
  • Distribute and flow down system-level requirements to engineering teams.
  • Monitor compliance with requirements and maintain traceability throughout the project lifecycle.

Reporting structure

This position reports directly to the VP of Product Design as part of the onsite Engineering department in San Diego.
