JOB DESCRIPTION – As a Production Engineer at NBCUniversal, you will play a crucial role in delivering top-notch support for live television productions, both scripted and unscripted. Your expertise will be essential in assisting the projects team with system enhancements, updates, and operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional technical support and maintain a complex broadcast production environment featuring multiple studios and control rooms.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to routing, audio, video, intercom, graphics, replay, ingest, and IP/streaming systems during live and recorded broadcasts.
- Assist in managing hybrid SDI/IP infrastructures, including SMPTE 2110 concepts, multicast, VLANs, and PTP, under the mentorship of senior engineers.
- Operate and monitor virtualized systems (VMware/Hyper-V) and cloud-enabled production workflows as needed.
- Utilize foundational scripting knowledge (Python, Bash, PowerShell) to aid in automation tasks, troubleshooting, and log analysis.
- Employ monitoring tools (DataMiner, Datadog, NewRelic, Op5, Grafana) to support system health checks and identify performance issues.
- Assist with contribution workflows including SRT, NDI, Dante/AES67, and other IP-based transport methods for remote and cloud productions.
- Provide basic support for field productions and temporary setups as necessary.
- Collaborate seamlessly with engineering, production, and IT teams across both local and remote operations (Mexico and Miami).
- Document SOPs, workflows, diagrams, inventory, and system configurations in accordance with NBCU O&T standards.
- Adhere to the best practices for technical security, including access control and network safety protocols.
