About Sequence
Sequence is building a new model for the American service economy by acquiring, improving, and managing businesses for the long term. The company focuses on using artificial intelligence to help these businesses make faster decisions, personalize services at scale, and deliver better results for their customers. Sequence believes that real change comes from deep involvement and ownership, not just consulting or selling software.
Unlike traditional SaaS or consulting firms, Sequence integrates its technology and engineering teams directly with operating companies. As a permanent holding company, Sequence invests heavily in both the businesses it acquires and the people who run them. The team works side by side with management, aiming to transform operations from within as true partners.
Sequence has raised $75 million in funding. The company’s seed round was led by Conviction and 8VC, and its Series A was led by Lux Capital with participation from Definition Capital and others.
Role Overview: Product Engineer
Location: New York City
As a Product Engineer at Sequence, the work centers on two main goals.
1. Create Value Within Operating Companies
Product Engineers translate complex human expertise into AI-powered processes. This includes deploying intelligent agents and building workflows with large language models (LLMs) to solve real operational problems. The solutions developed are put to use daily by teams across Sequence’s portfolio.
2. Build for Scalability Across the Platform
Each transformation should also strengthen Sequence’s core AI platform. Many acquired businesses depend on manual, labor-intensive processes. By creating reusable systems that work across the portfolio, Product Engineers help make future transformations faster and more effective, moving service businesses toward a product-driven approach.
As Sequence grows, engineers who excel will have opportunities to shape and lead entire business verticals, working closely with operators and investors to drive industry-wide change.
