To be successful in this role, candidates must:Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering. Be classified as a 'U. S. Person' under ITAR (22 CFR § 120.15). Have a minimum of 5 years of practical experience as a Product Design Engineer. Exhibit a strong understanding of relevant terminology, principles, and theories pertinent to the role. Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting international standards, manuals, and technical drawings. Possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with both local and international engineering teams and sales personnel, responding to inquiries promptly and providing clear explanations. Be proficient in Windows 11 and Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with Power BI, Power Automate, and VBA is preferred. Be skilled in CAD and PLM software, with a preference for Autodesk Inventor and SmarTeam. Have experience using ERP Systems, preferably SAP Hana.

About the job

The Product Design Engineer plays a pivotal role in the innovative research, design, and effective execution of Modified to Order (MtO) and Engineered to Order (EtO) products within Stäubli Electrical Connectors. This position encompasses the entire lifecycle of product development including the creation of cable harness systems, customization of standard products, and the introduction of unique designs for various applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and provide critical technical information to customers, leveraging support from outside sales when necessary, to ensure accurate product usage and design.
  • Lead the development and design of new products by engaging internal resources to guarantee optimal functionality in their intended applications.
  • Act as a technical consultant for both inside and outside sales teams, as well as customers.
  • Advocate for Stäubli products during initial customer interactions.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders within Stäubli, including Operations, Assembly, and Quality, as well as external suppliers, to ensure the technical soundness and cost-effectiveness of newly developed or existing products.
  • Interpret and apply international and national standards relevant to specific applications to ensure compliance in product designs.
  • Conduct GD&T, DFM/DFA, and DFMEA analyses on newly designed or modified products.
  • Support the internal Test Lab in developing type test protocols, proof of concept testing, and necessary fixtures/apparatus.
  • Provide training on products and applications to Stäubli personnel or customers as requested by management.
  • Manage time effectively to complete multiple project designs concurrently and perform administrative tasks, including weekly meetings and addressing customer inquiries.
  • Offer guidance to the Stäubli marketing team regarding new and existing products.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% as required.
