A Day in the Life
As a Process Technician on the night shift (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM PST), you will be instrumental in propelling the next wave of solar technology. Your role will involve the operation, refinement, and scaling of our thin-film deposition processes, directly aiding our transition from research and development to high-throughput manufacturing systems.
Your night will commence with a detailed review of the previous shift’s notes, executing experimental plans using the lab tools you’ve mastered, and meticulously documenting your findings for the incoming team. Given the nature of the role, you will often need to exercise independent judgment—identifying when to troubleshoot independently or seek assistance from an on-call engineer, ensuring that experiments progress safely and accurately.
The position will also entail repetitive, detail-oriented tasks involving procedure adherence, parameter recording, and tool performance monitoring to maintain consistent output. As you gain experience, your responsibilities will expand to include tracking supplies, identifying workflow challenges, refining processes, and preparing comprehensive shift handoff logs to ensure continuity for the day team.
Being part of an early-stage startup means your involvement will span various company aspects. You will learn to adapt to new tools, experiments, and processes while contributing to Swift’s growing technical capabilities. In this dynamic environment, you will discover numerous opportunities to enhance your skills and we actively encourage you to seize them.
