About the Starlink Supplier Development Role
SpaceX is building the future of space exploration, with a focus on making life multiplanetary. The Starlink team is driving the technology and production needed to achieve this vision. The Principal Supplier Development Engineer - Battery will play a key part in scaling advanced battery manufacturing for the Starlink program.
What You Will Do
- Act as the main technical contact for highly engineered machined components, tackling high-impact manufacturing and quality issues to support the Starship program.
- Improve part quality and reduce costs by applying first-principles thinking to design, material selection, and manufacturing processes. Identify inefficiencies and engineer solutions that deliver measurable performance and cost improvements.
- Evaluate and onboard new suppliers to strengthen the supply chain. Lead technical assessments and qualification processes for prospective partners.
- Investigate and introduce alternative manufacturing methods to lower costs, shorten lead times, and raise quality standards.
- Oversee New Product Introduction (NPI) and qualification activities for new parts and design changes at supplier sites.
- Coordinate across purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to resolve quality concerns and drive ongoing process improvements.
- Shape design and sourcing strategies by sharing technical expertise and industry knowledge. Provide data-backed recommendations on manufacturability, quality, and cost trade-offs.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts, using structured problem-solving techniques to deliver lasting solutions.
