Desirable Qualifications and Experience:Bachelor of Engineering with ideally 13+ years of experience delivering complex structural engineering projects across a variety of market sectors and building typologies in Australia and New Zealand. Prior experience or interest in mass timber design is highly regarded. Proven ability to provide specialized structural technical input for both conceptual and detailed design autonomously. Familiarity with advanced digital workflows to achieve optimized design outcomes, along with proficiency in industry-standard software such as ETABS, RAM Concept, RAPT, and SpaceGASS. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative team environment.

We are excited to announce that due to our continued expansion, AECOM is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to enhance our Building Engineering team, primarily focusing on Defence Projects. While we have a preference for candidates in Adelaide, we welcome applications from Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane as well.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a senior technical resource, providing expert advice to the team. Leverage your knowledge of key building components, including stability design, basements, structural steel framing, and connections, while leading the design of cost-effective post-tensioned concrete floors.
  • Utilize your experience with various construction materials to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, architects, and builders throughout all phases of major projects.
  • Oversee and refine design and delivery procedures, fostering high-quality and cost-effective work from your team members.
  • Employ your technical expertise for quality control, reviewing design calculations and drawings, and preparing technical specifications.
  • Contribute as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, participating in inter-disciplinary reviews of project deliverables, while also aiding in the development of engineering budgets and schedules to fulfill project requirements.
