About the job
This Principal Solutions Architect role at Credence Management Solutions is fully remote within the United States. As a senior individual contributor, the position centers on shaping technical strategy and delivery for the company’s growing work with the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Role overview
The Principal Solutions Architect defines the technical architecture for VA IT modernization projects, guiding efforts from initial concept through delivery. This role is pivotal in establishing reference architectures, making key decisions on platforms and integrations, and ensuring solutions are validated through hands-on technical work. Collaboration with the VA practice lead, a former VA Deputy CIO, is central to refining strategies for VA customers.
Key responsibilities
- Lead technical architecture for VA IT modernization initiatives, overseeing projects from start to finish.
- Create reference architectures and determine platforms and integration approaches.
- Stay hands-on with coding, architectural design, and proofs of concept to validate solutions.
- Partner with the VA practice lead to shape technical direction for VA clients.
- Represent Credence in client technical discussions and strategic planning sessions.
- Contribute to pre-award activities, including preparing technical volumes, delivering presentations, responding to RFIs, and participating in customer discovery.
- Support both VA and Department of Defense (DoD) delivery programs, with a gradual shift toward VA-focused work as the practice grows.
Who succeeds in this role
- Technical leaders who enjoy building solutions and guiding others.
- Engineers who are comfortable acting as player-coaches, balancing hands-on technical work with mentoring peers.
- Those who appreciate a flat, empowered culture and are open to a mix of delivery and business development responsibilities.
Growth and leadership
This position does not include direct people management at the outset. As the VA practice expands, the Principal Solutions Architect will naturally take on a technical mentorship and leadership role for new engineers joining the team.
