Qualifications

Extensive experience in traction power and high voltage substation design. Proven ability to operate as a CRE / Lead Engineer. Experience in delivering complex projects from feasibility through detailed design stages. Experience in leading multidisciplinary coordination and managing design teams. Chartered status or equivalent experience at the Principal level is preferred. Low voltage experience is a plus, but not required.

Your Role:

Join our dynamic Electrification & Power team as a Principal Rail Traction Power and Substation Engineer. You will play a pivotal role in delivering complex rail projects that meet client expectations and adhere to high standards. Your expertise will ensure that designs are technically sound, cost-effective, and compliant with relevant codes and regulations.

As part of a growing team, you will work on traction power and substation projects across the UK, with opportunities to engage in international assignments. Our projects encompass the entire lifecycle, from feasibility studies to detailed design and construction support.

Your Responsibilities:

Act as the Discipline Lead / Contractor’s Responsible Engineer (CRE) for key projects, ensuring the technical and commercial delivery of traction power and high voltage substation systems. You will lead the development of intricate design packages, providing technical expertise and fostering the continuous growth of the Electrification & Power team.

You will collaborate closely with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams to guarantee coordinated and effective delivery. Additionally, you will oversee the work of engineers and designers, providing mentorship and technical leadership while engaging directly with clients and stakeholders.

To maintain the highest quality, you will develop and approve design documentation, conduct final technical reviews, and ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards. You will also conduct site visits, offer design support during construction, and contribute to bid preparation by providing technical insights.
