The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:Chartered Engineer status with relevant professional registration, or equivalent recognition from a recognized professional body. A minimum of 10-12 years of experience in a Building Services consultancy or as a Senior/Project Engineer in the Mechanical Contracting sector. A demonstrated history of technical design and project delivery while maintaining robust client relationships. A strong grasp of Building Services projects and standards, capable of conveying technical expertise to clients, junior engineers, and multidisciplinary teams. Experience in managing multiple technical projects concurrently, showcasing excellent organizational skills.

As our defence portfolio continues to expand, AECOM's Building Engineering team is on the lookout for a Principal Mechanical Engineer. We are seeking an exceptional technical leader who excels at delivering high-quality design solutions across diverse sectors.

While our preference is for candidates based in Adelaide, this position is also open to individuals in Brisbane or Melbourne.

Your Impact:

  • Leverage your extensive mechanical design expertise to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions for major building projects across health, defence, transport, data centres, sports, and more within ANZ.
  • Take charge of mechanical design packages on key client projects, ensuring technical delivery excellence through rigorous design reviews and compliance checks.
  • Engage with multidisciplinary teams to enhance quality across calculations, specifications, and detailed design documentation.
  • Mentor junior engineers, supporting their technical growth and encouraging a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal teams and clients, contributing to successful project outcomes and encouraging repeat business.
