Are you ready to redefine what's possible?Requirements:Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE or equivalent), or operating at chartered level with demonstrated leadership and professional authority. Extensive experience in delivering complex civil infrastructure projects, preferably in data centres, mission-critical facilities, or large-scale developments. In-depth knowledge of planning, highways, drainage, and utility approval processes. Proven experience as Design Lead / Principal Technical Authority within multidisciplinary teams. Familiarity with BIM modeling, processes, and experience in collaborative platforms.

AECOM is on the lookout for a Principal Civil Engineer who will spearhead technical leadership for a variety of data centre projects. These projects encompass site due diligence assessments, master planning, detailed design, and construction support. This role is pivotal in fostering business growth, nurturing client relationships, and advancing AECOM's civil engineering prowess within the data centre sector.

You will integrate into our Civil Engineering Business Unit, working collaboratively with ground, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers, as well as architects, project managers, environmental specialists, and surveyors across the UK and internationally, all contributing to our extensive data centre project portfolio.

Within the Data Centres Market Sector, you will serve as an ambassador for AECOM, offering expert civil engineering insight across EMEA and within global teams. Your contributions will ensure technical excellence, resilience, and seamless integration across various disciplines, closely collaborating with both UK and global multidisciplinary teams to strengthen AECOM’s standing in the Hyperscale and Co-location data centre market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver strategic civil engineering leadership and technical governance for data centre projects, ensuring adherence to AECOM standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee, review, and validate civil engineering infrastructure designs and specifications, crafting viable solutions for site development, earthworks, drainage, pavements, access, utility infrastructure, and civil engineering operations linked to data centres.
  • Coordinate with fellow civil engineers and technical specialists to ensure successful delivery of our data centre project portfolio, including cooperation with ground engineers, electrical and mechanical engineers, structural engineers, project managers, architects, and environmental consultants both in the UK and globally.
  • Enhance client engagement, drive business development, support strategic asset planning, and contribute to thought leadership within the sector, while mentoring and developing civil engineers to elevate technical capability and delivery excellence in the Data Centres sector.
