Are you ready to challenge the boundaries of what's achievable?Key Requirements:Demonstrated technical proficiency in BMS, mechanical and electrical systems, with substantial experience in control systems, commissioning, and smart building technologies. Proven track record in leading teams and managing projects on a national scale, proficient in workload and financial management, and stakeholder engagement. Exceptional communication and leadership skills, capable of collaborating efficiently with clients, architects, M&E contractors, and senior stakeholders. In-depth knowledge of open communication standards, BMS trends, and innovative smart building solutions. Educational background: HNC or degree in building services, electrical engineering, or computer science; practical BMS experience with Trend, Tridium, or Niagara; proficient in cause & effect matrices, specifications, and commissioning. Chartered status or actively pursuing it, with security clearance (or willingness to obtain).

Join AECOM’s Building Engineering Division as a BMS Principal Engineer. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the design, implementation, and optimization of building management systems across diverse sectors, including office fit-outs, mixed-use developments, industrial facilities, and governmental projects. This opportunity allows you to spearhead innovation, deliver state-of-the-art smart building solutions, and make a lasting impact on the built environment.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, commissioning, and implementation of BMS systems, ensuring alignment with client requirements, regulatory standards, and sustainability objectives.
  • Foster relationships with stakeholders across all levels, including clients, architects, M&E teams, contractors, and management, while providing expert guidance.
  • Oversee complex projects from inception to completion: perform feasibility studies, develop specifications and point schedules, manage tenders, analyze costs and bids, and report progress.
  • Conduct thorough system surveys, assessments, and FAT/SAT testing while delivering comprehensive reports, recommendations, and training for clients to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Drive business development initiatives, mentor and grow the BMS team, facilitate knowledge sharing, and contribute to advancements in smart building technologies.
  • Uphold Safety, Health & Environmental (SH&E) best practices, resolving technical challenges while ensuring compliance and promoting a culture of safety.
  • Support the integration of mechanical, electrical, and control systems, leveraging expertise in open communication standards and advanced BMS technologies, including Trend, Tridium, and Niagara.
  • Occasionally travel to project sites and AECOM offices across the country, balancing office-based work with flexible remote work arrangements.
