Role overview
The Principal Aerospace Software Certification Engineer leads software, hardware, and cybersecurity certification activities for Archer’s eVTOL aircraft. This remote position, based out of San Jose, calls for deep technical knowledge and the ability to guide both internal teams and external suppliers through complex certification requirements.
Main responsibilities
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for System, Software, Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH), and Cybersecurity Design Assurance processes, supporting both internal and supplier projects.
- Review and approve Software and AEH life-cycle documentation as a Delegated Engineering Representative (DER), if authorized.
- Lead System Design Assurance Reviews for internal projects, ensuring compliance with ARP4754A/ARP4761 and supporting assessments by Certification Authorities.
- Oversee Supplier Design Assurance Reviews to confirm adherence to ARP4754A/ARP4761, DO-178C, DO-254, and related regulatory standards.
- Assist with approval of Cybersecurity protocols in collaboration with Certification Authorities for Archer products.
- Support the development and independent evaluation of System, Software/AEH, and Cybersecurity processes and verification activities as needed.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements of Archer’s System, Software, and AEH processes, focusing on continuous process enhancement.
