Your Core Responsibilities:Design and execute an ML-focused research project tailored to a real-world trading atmosphere. Engage directly with hardware engineers to develop, validate, and implement ML inference solutions. Monitor and assess novel research in neural architecture search, machine learning systems, and quantization techniques, identifying opportunities for performance enhancements. Deliver presentations on your project to enhance team knowledge in ML acceleration. Acquire foundational hardware design knowledge from experienced RTL developers and understand its relevance in the industry. Develop the ability to assess research applications not only from an academic viewpoint but also considering real-world performance, engineering costs, and industry ramifications. Your Skills and Experience:Currently pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related discipline. Comprehensive understanding of hardware constraints and design trade-offs (e.g., pipelining, resource utilization, fixed-point arithmetic) essential for efficient ML model mapping onto FPGAs or custom ASICs. Experience with hardware fundamentals through VHDL/SystemVerilog development, HLS tools, or ML-to-hardware frameworks like hls4ml, FINN, or Vitis AI. Solid grasp of machine learning principles, including neural network architectures, inference optimization, and quantization techniques, with familiarity in frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow. Proficient in Python or similar languages for tooling, testing, and simulation tasks. Excellent communication skills with a collaborative spirit to work across diverse technical and non-technical teams.
