About the job

Field AI is at the forefront of revolutionizing robotic interactions with the real world. We are dedicated to developing AI systems that are risk-aware, reliable, and ready for field deployment, tackling complex challenges in robotics to unlock the full potential of embodied intelligence. Our innovative approach transcends traditional data-driven methods and pure transformer architectures, leading to globally deployed solutions that yield real-world results and enhance models through practical applications.

Hardware Team:
The Hardware Team at Field AI focuses on creating perception and computational payloads that empower autonomous robotic systems in intricate real-world settings. Our expertise encompasses the entire hardware stack, including the design and integration of sensing systems (such as LiDAR, cameras, TOF, IMU, GPS), embedded computing (CPUs, GPUs, microcontrollers, ROS, sensor drivers), electrical systems (power distribution, communication), and mechanical components (structures, thermal management, ingress protection). Our team is committed to both development (research, design, prototyping, testing) and operations (production, testing, quality assurance, debugging). As a nimble and dynamic team, we are passionate about enhancing: 1) core capabilities, 2) system reliability, and 3) system scalability. Additionally, we are establishing operational systems and procedures from the ground up.

Sensor Systems Role:
As a Sensor Systems Engineer on the Hardware Team, you will play a crucial role in the design, integration, calibration, and validation of the sensor systems that serve as the backbone of our autonomy stack. You will engage with a wide variety of sensors—including LiDAR, depth cameras, IMUs, and GPS—ensuring each sensor provides precise, time-synchronized, and spatially consistent data across diverse environments and operating conditions. Collaboration will be key, as you will work closely with autonomy, computing, electrical, and mechanical teams to create robust, integrated solutions poised for deployment in challenging field conditions. While your primary focus will be on sensors, your contributions may extend across all hardware domains.
