1. About the Role
Join Hinge Health as a dedicated Payroll Lead within our Finance team. This pivotal position allows you to independently manage comprehensive payroll operations across the US and international locations, while spearheading process enhancements and ensuring the highest standards of compliance. Reporting directly to the Sr. Manager of Equity & Payroll, you will act as a subject matter expert, collaborating with cross-functional teams such as People, Benefits, HR Technology, Equity, Tax, and Accounting. Your leadership will be vital in mentoring team members and ensuring that critical payroll reporting deadlines are met with precision.
2. What You'll Accomplish
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and execute semi-monthly and bi-weekly payrolls in Workday for over 1500 employees across various entities in the US and Canada with minimal supervision.
Lead intricate payroll projects, including system upgrades, process optimization, and integration of new payroll systems.
Calculate and prepare off-cycle payrolls, proactively identifying potential issues before they affect employees.
Drive process improvements by identifying inefficiencies within payroll workflows and implementing scalable solutions.
Conduct audits for new hires and manage termination processes; oversee payroll variance reconciliations and relevant documentation.
Manage and optimize 401(k) contributions in Empower, ensuring accuracy and identifying automation opportunities.
Act as the primary resource for resolving complex payroll processing exceptions and escalations.
Lead payroll-related employee communications, addressing concerns and providing clear guidance.
Collaborate strategically with HR operations, accounting, equity, and HR Tech teams to align policies and drive cross-functional initiatives.
Manage the processing of garnishments, levies, withholding tax notices, child support, and unemployment insurance questionnaires.
Ensure accuracy in auditing tax codes and setups between Workday and ADP, independently resolving discrepancies.
Oversee state registration strategies, including new registrations as entities expand or renewals as registrations expire.
Lead quarterly tax audits and year-end W-2 reporting, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
