Qualifications

Master's Degree in Nursing is required. A valid, unencumbered professional nursing license in South Carolina is essential. An Illinois RN License is required to teach all courses (priority given to professors currently licensed in Illinois). Current BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network) is mandatory. Minimum of 2 years of professional nursing experience within the last five years is required. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment are necessary.

Scheduling Details

  • Course requirements and clinical specialties will determine your schedule for each 8-week session.
  • Clinical instructors typically work non-consecutive 12-hour shifts.
  • Note that additional clinical dates may not be available, and clinical assignments are not guaranteed for every session.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the College's educational philosophy, curriculum, and course objectives through effective clinical teaching and community service.
  • Take ownership of all aspects of your individual teaching assignments.
  • Design clinical experiences and oversee nursing students as they provide care to individuals or groups.
  • Be available to collaborate with clinical agency staff.
  • Assess and provide documented feedback on student performance in relation to course objectives.
  • Support student remediation as needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of agency policies and procedures with the help of clinical personnel.
  • Create and distribute clinical assignments tailored to students' knowledge and skill levels.
  • Grade and return assignments and assessments promptly.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and evaluation of the academic programs and the College.
  • May also deliver didactic course content under the course coordinator's supervision.
