Qualifications

Master's Degree in Nursing is required. Must hold an unencumbered professional nursing license in South Carolina. Illinois RN License is necessary to teach all courses (preference given to professors currently licensed in Illinois). Current BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network). Minimum of 2 years of experience as a registered nurse within the last five years is required. Exceptional communication skills with a high degree of initiative and sound judgment.

Scheduling Details:

  • The schedule is tailored to the course requirements and clinical specialty for each 8-week session.
  • Clinical instructors are typically assigned non-consecutive 12-hour shifts.
  • Note that additional dates may not be available, and clinical dates are not guaranteed for every session.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clinical teaching that aligns with the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives, contributing to the College, community, health system, and the nursing profession.
  • Take full responsibility for all facets of your teaching assignments.
  • Design clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and assessment of nursing students delivering care.
  • Be available to support staff at the clinical facilities.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students regarding their performance based on course objectives.
  • Offer remediation to students as necessary.
  • Stay updated on clinical agency policies, procedures, and expectations with assistance from agency personnel.
  • Create and assign written clinical tasks that align with students' knowledge, skill levels, and individual learning needs.
  • Grade and return homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, and clinical documentation promptly.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement and evaluation of the programs and the College.
  • May deliver didactic course content under the guidance of the course coordinator.
