Become a Language Arts Instructor at AoPS Academy!

Responsibilities of the Part-Time Instructor Include:
- Delivering an Engaging Curriculum: Utilize our specially designed curriculum and materials tailored for advanced students to facilitate small group classes in language arts.
- Student Engagement: Actively involve students in discussions and promote student-led learning.
- Effective Classroom Management: Skillfully oversee and manage a class of up to 16 students.
- Grading and Feedback: Assess tests and assignments while providing constructive feedback.
- Building Relationships: Establish meaningful connections with students and their families to positively influence their educational journey.
- Inspiring Lifelong Learning: Foster a passion for learning and critical thinking in the realm of language arts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- A degree in education or a humanities-related field is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of reading, writing, and grammar.
- Prior classroom teaching experience at the K-12 level is preferred.
- Experience in teaching or tutoring students is essential.
Note: A formal teaching credential is not necessary for this role.
Schedule (Academic Year):
- Classes are offered in the evenings and on weekends; candidates should be available to teach during weekday after-school hours (starting as early as 4 PM) and/or on weekends.
- This position entails a minimum initial commitment of around 3 hours per week for each assigned class.
- Each course is conducted once a week for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Schedule (Summer):
- In the summer, we conduct multiple two-week camps from June to August.
- Summer camp classes are held Monday through Friday for 3 hours each day, with both morning and afternoon sessions available.
Campus Location:
- This is an in-person role based at our San Diego campus. Candidates should reside in San Diego, CA, or the surrounding area.
