Our offerings span streaming video, theatrical releases, games, merchandise, events, and more, all powered by the beloved anime content that resonates with our audience.Join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of anime!Crunchyroll, LLC operates as an independently managed joint venture between Sony Pictures Entertainment in the U.S. and Aniplex, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc., both of which are part of the Tokyo-based Sony Group Corporation.About the RoleAs the Director of Business Affairs, you will report directly to the Senior Director, Business Affairs, and will be based in Tokyo, Japan.Your responsibilities will include preparing and negotiating agreements related to development and production, as well as consortium agreements for Crunchyroll's expanding portfolio of co-productions and original content.You will balance financial terms, legal considerations, and business risks while collaborating with our Productions teams, Royalty reporting, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Programming, and other partners to effectively leverage our content rights. Your role will require consultation and cooperation with both internal and external stakeholders, including legal teams, producers, and our Japanese production partners.Core Areas of ResponsibilityNegotiate and finalize complex development and production agreements, including consortium agreements, music clearance, co-productions, and merchandising licenses with Japanese partners.Draft and negotiate contracts in both Japanese and English.Communicate financial terms, contractual risks, and obligations to various internal departments regarding newly acquired or produced content, including Content, Legal, Finance, Marketing, Licensing, and Programming.Maintain an organized record of deal terms and update negotiation statuses in internal tracking systems.Provide general business counsel and support in a constantly evolving business landscape.About YouWe are excited to hear from candidates who possess:10+ years of experience in licensing, production, and business affairs within the Japanese entertainment industry.8+ years of people management experience.Strong negotiation skills and the ability to draft contracts in both Japanese and English.Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
